HMS Cheer Squad
The Hawthorne Middle School Cheer Squad is a group of energetic and spirited students who have outstanding academic and citizenship marks. They were selected through a weeklong try out in which forty interested students acquired teacher recommendations and learned a challenging routine. Only students who displayed commitment by showing up every day and having excellent grades and teacher recommendations were chosen. While promoting the school’s spirit, cheer squad members are expected to follow all school rules and have high academic marks throughout the school year.
Every Thursday the squad practices cheers and dances to perform at the school’s football and basketball games. In addition to games, the HMS cheerleaders perform at flag football and basketball games. On March 3rd they took 1st place at the Sharp International cheer competition at Torrance High School. They will also be performing at the Lawndale parade on April 28th and at the school's talent show.
