Ms. Akila Jones earned a B.S. in Social Work from San Diego State University (SDSU). She furthered her educational journey by earning her Teaching credential, Masters in Education and Administrative Credential all from California State University (CSU), Dominguez Hills. Before earning her teaching credential, Ms. Jones spent several years as a Social Worker in San Diego. Ms. Jones has taught for 11 years in the Hawthorne School District ranging in grades from first through eighth. She has earned both Rookie of the Year (2001) and Teacher of the Year (2010). She is currently teaching sixth and seventh-grade Language Arts intervention classes here at HMS as well as fulfilling her duties as a Special Projects teacher. She enjoys reading, traveling and collecting frog knick-knacks. |

Mrs. Ely Arencibia earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of La Verne, an M.S. in Counseling with an Option in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from California State University - Los Angeles, and an M.A. in Education Teaching/Curriculum from California State University - Dominguez Hills. Before beginning her career in education, Ms. Arencibia spent a number of years in sales and marketing of computer systems and software for the mortgage and banking industries. Ms. Arencibia is currently the counselor at Hawthorne Middle School. Prior to coming to Hawthorne she was a teacher for the Inglewood School District. Ms. Arencibia currently holds a BCLAD Multi-Subject Credential as well as a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in Counseling. |

Mrs. Wendy Alfalah earned her B.A. in Psychology and minored in Public Administration at Cal State University Dominguez Hills, California. Thereafter, she entered Loyola Marymount University where she earned a M.A. in School Psychology and M.A. in Counseling. Upon graduation, she was hired as a full-time School Psychologist in the Hawthorne School District where she was been working with children with varying special needs in grades 6th- 12th. She also has post-graduate education in School Neuro-psychology from Texas Women's University and is a California Licensed Educational Psychologist. |
